Los Angeles is leading the charge for Cleantech innovation and will soon be opening the doors to the La Kretz Innovation Campus which is a great example of a public-private partnership among a wide range of stakeholders in Los Angeles. The project broke ground on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 and is over 80% completed with planned opening of this amazing facility in July 2015.
The 61,000 square foot facility will be the new home for the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and the state-of-the-art Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Energy Efficiency Technology and Customer Engagement Center. The facility will be a key resource for training tomorrow’s workforce on the tools, equipment and technology necessary for a green economy.

The La Kretz Innovation Campus, a green tech incubator will feature and house science-focused offices, classroom space, conference rooms, event space, laboratories, a workshop for manufacturing prototypes. The property will also include a new community park and a parking lot with a photovoltaic solar canopy.
The campus will serve as the first big accomplishment for the Cleantech Corridor, an aspiring district of alternative energy and clean transportation companies set up along the river.

- LACI will be a permanent home to 20-25 companies.

Located on an entire city block in the heart of the Cleantech Corridor. Plans for the Campus now include a 30,000 square foot home for LACI, cleantech demonstration centers, R&D labs, conference facilities, work force training facilities as well as space for more mature cleantech companies.
The La Kretz campus will anchor Los Angeles’ Cleantech Corridor, a 4-mile strip along the Los Angeles River that the city hopes will transform from a blighted industrial neighborhood into a thriving green business district. Once completed, the La Kretz project is expected to create 600 direct jobs and 1,080 indirect jobs, which would generate about $45 million in annual salaries.

The current home of the LA Cleantech Incubator at 411 S. Hewit Street will be be moving to a new location down the street to the La Kretz Innovation Campus. LACI will be joining the Los Angeles Energy Efficiency Technology and Customer Engagement Center.
There are currently 26 companies at the current LA Cleantech Incubator and the new location will be able to accommodate over 100 startups.

The La Kretz Innovation Campus is located in the Arts District. The Arts District occupies the eastern side of Downtown Los Angeles, USA, east of Little Tokyo and west of the LA River. The area of formerly abandoned industrial buildings has become a thriving mecca for young professionals in creative industries, including L.A.'s huge TV and film industry. The city community planning boundaries are Alameda Street on the west, First Street on the north, the LA River to the east, and Violet Street on the south.
The La Kretz Innovation Campus is located in the city’s Cleantech Corridor in downtown LA. A four mile long strip between the Los Angeles River and Alameda in the eastern part of downtown, the Clean Tech Corridor is the cornerstone of the city’s green economy strategy. The city is offering a range of incentives for cleantech companies to locate in the corridor. The Corridor will be home to the cleantech ecosystem that Los Angeles is building to support the green economy.
